How Artificial Wedding Flowers Are Made Using Different Materials
Artificial flowers have come a long way from the days of silk material or crepe paper. Today a wide variety of materials and manufacturing techniques are used to create incredibly life like artificial flowers.
The most popular material used to create artificial flowers is a cotton polyester blend which holds colour dyes and textures that are added to the material. The material is as soft as silk but is harder wearing than silk fabric. Cotton polyester material is far cheaper to produce than real silk.
Latex is another very popular material used. You often find flower varieties such as Calla lily, Anthuiums and Heliconia to name a few. A lot of the different types of greenery used are also manufactured from latex. It gives the artificial flower the same stiff structure and feel that you find in the fresh variety.
Special fabric finishes are some times applied to the material to give the silk flowers life like textures and to recreate the real flower shine Peachskin, a sueded fabric is used for flowers such as magnolias to give that velvety feel that you find on the fresh flower.
Artificial berries are usually created from plastic foam and are then painted with enamel paint to give the same lustre shine that you find with real berries.
All artificial flowers have wire stems, which makes arranging the flowers much easier. Many fresh flowers need to have their flimsy stems wired so that the flower can be placed correctly in an arrangement, however you can avoid having to do this with artificial flowers. It makes manipulation of the flower within an arrangement much easier.
As can be seen silk wedding flowers are made from numerous different materials and this makes them able to be used by numerous brides for their special day.
