Cake Stand Plate
Cake related dilemma?!?
I’m baking a 12 layer cake. All the layers are finished and I am now making the icing ready to spread between each layer. My dilemma is that as I ice and frost the cake, the plate I will stand the layers on will become messy and chocolatey and not very presentable. The cake will be tall and heavy so how will I transfer it from one plate to another?
With a cake that tall, you will need to support the layers with dowels and cardboard liners. You can buy these at Walmart or Hobby Lobby or Michaels. That will stabilize your cake and you can manage it much easier and safer.
You can place wax paper in strips along the base of the cake, then once finished icing, you simply remove the strips. This will keep your plate clean.
