Christening Communion
what happens at a christening?
I am trying to plan for the day my daughter will be christened. I am more of a spiritual person than anything else but its my boyfriends side of the family who this is really important to. I’m not against it so why fight it?
I just dont know where to begin. What happens at a christening if the family is baptist? Does it matter that I rarely went to church growing up? I havent made my first communion or anything like that. Before i start planning i need an understanding of the process that will go on.
For your sake have your boyfriend make an appointment at the church where the christening is going to be held. They will tell you step by step what is going to happen, basically they are going to bless your daughter with holy water, but I think you need to have more of an understanding of what is going on. You might also need to think about having a small gathering at your house after wards as that is the normal thing to do after a christening. You can ask everyone to bring a covered dish and have a buffet. People usually eat and drink and bring small gifts for the baby. Good luck.
