Cross White Ceramic
Can anyone identify this medal?
I’m looking at buying a mysterious medal in an antique store. It’s a maltese cross with four maple leaves surrounding it. The medal is indented with a white, shiny, almost ceramic/shell-like material. The ribbon is black. Does anyone know what it is awarded for (or what it even is)?
Often the maltese cross is Nazi but the maple leaves?
It is almost impossible to tell without seeing a few pictures of the medal.
The Maltese Cross, although used in the Iron Cross (German), has also been used by various other countries including Great Britain in the Victoria Cross, Norway in Haakon VII’s Liberty Cross and also in the French and Belgian Croix de Guerre.
The white, shiny ‘ceramic’ is most likely enamel.
