a jehovah witness wedding?
ok i am about to go to a jehovah witness wedding they are family friends of ours but when i said something to a friend of mine she was like i hope you dont plan on going in the temple or think there is music or anything to drink as in alcohol. i was baffled i was like hmmmmm never really thought of that on normal jw weddings what goes on being catholic what part can i see or do during the wedding or day do we all just go to a restaurant and eat a lunch or dinner and then leave like it was a dinner party there is no bridal toss or garter cake cutting
no i am not saying that i am ok with no boose but find it odd even not haveing wine with dinner esp a formal one
sorry everyone kingdom hall heck at least i know it wasn’t called a church or orthodox
and we have been good friends for over 25 years we grew up next door and our familys are close just never been to there place of worship or a wedding in there religon
Listen. It is totally normal event. Bride walks down isle. Do you take, yes do you take yes. There is a bible based talk about the roles of a husband and wife. The Temple thing is Mormons, witnesses have Kingdom Halls and all are invited
Often there is a reception much like anyone else. There is often dancing and occasionally alcohol. Some choose not to but there is nothing wrong with a little drinkypoo. Just can’t get wasted.
I had a lovely wedding with beer and wine, dancing and laughter. Nothing crazy. unless you count the lamb being sacrificed. Just playing.
Anyone could be invited. Nothing weird happens. They strive to keep it dignified as you can imagine.
The Alcohol thing… Some people feel like it could get out of control so they choose not to. Some have family or friends that have drinking problems so there is no sense in tempting them. I have been to 100 witness weddings. I would say 1/3 had alcohol. Bring a flask, no one will care, just don’t go crazy or drink in the Kingdom Hall.
No one is trying to convert you. You are probably just good friends. I had many non believers (work mates, family ect).
