Hanging Hearts
How do you trim hanging plants so they grow faster?
The kind of plants commonly found in offices, green and leafy with almost heart shaped leaves.
Yes, one of the other posters was right.
You should re-pot it. It will help it grow.
Also, what you shoudl do, is take it down, and first, trim off all the dead stuff. Most should just pull away without needing scissors.
Second, once you have gotten rid of the dead stuff, Look to see if the “hanging” parts are the length you want, or do you want them shorter?
Also, is it real leafy on the stuff that hangs down, but the stuff “in” the pot is real bare?
If yes to either/both questions is yes, what you want to do is trim back the hanging stems/branches. Choose the length you think you want, and cut PAST the leaf in that area.

This is how long it looks (laying down, like on a table):

You want to get rid of the last 3 sections.
So, cut here (this is symbol shows where to cut: | ):
(pot is here)—–,—–’-| —,—–’—,
This part you keep…….. This part you cut off.
Now, for the part you cut off…
Have any empty 20 oz bottles of soda pop or bottled water?
Fill them up (about 3/4 full) and put the stems/branches that you cut off, in them. (Fresh cut side in the water.)
Give it about 5 days, and you will see roots beginning to grow.
Within a few months, you’ll be able to plant the new shoots, and your “mother” plant will look healthy and beautiful.
By triming back, it will encourage new growth.
Also, if you want more “rooters”, say you cut 16″ off the initial stem/branch, you can turn that 16″ “rooter” into two 8″ rooters.
Just remember to cut PAST the last leaf you want to keep.
