Ivory Satin Flower
What would you reccomend I use to dye white satin to ivory?
I am getting married 11-22-08. I jumped the gun early and bought my ring bearer pillow and flower girl basket. I bought them white, but now I’m wearing ivory and everything that would be white is ivory; including the little girls dress. White would just clash with it all. So what I’m wanting to know is what would be the best thing to use to dye them to ivory? And tea dye is not an option. Thank you!
You can’t dye anything that is not washable. It seems pretty unlikely that your ring bearer pillow and flower girl basket are washable. If they are not washable, your only alternative is to buy new ones in the color you want. Dyeing items that cannot be washed will just ruin them.
What fibers are the fabrics in the pillow and basket made of? If they are made of polyester satin, then the only way they can be dyed is by boiling them for an hour with a special polyester dye called disperse dye. Disperse dye takes some time to transfer even at boiling temperaures, and will not work at all in cold or hot tap water, because it needs so much more heat.
