Hoodoo and the use of lodestones?
I have noticed that in hoodoo practice lodestones are favoured as a way to draw things to you. In these modern times wouldn’t a magnet (that is easier to come across) be just as effective if not more than a lodestone?
Lodestones are favored for being naturally occuring, but many people do use magnets instead. It’s kind of like how one can readily buy a fragrance oil, chemically identical to the real thing, but many people still won’t touch it and will favor instead the naturally extracted oil thought it costs eight times more.
There is a kind of running theory in some schools of hoodoo and other magic that the items themselves, especially if naturally occuring, have a sort of ’soul’ which will assist the spellwork, but which might not be possessed by the artificial renderings.
I will say I have found, as far as my experience goes, that real lodestones for some reason are a little more effective, in practice.
