Photo Mounting Boards: Assets For An Amateur Photographer
Amateur photographers at times tend to be more passionate than even professionals. Due to their obvious lack of high level photographic skills, good photos that they shoot are few and far between. As such, they wish to preserve whatever good quality photos they manage to snap, either to add to their portfolio, to serve as mementos, or simply to act as inspiration.

Custom photo mounting boards, picture mount boards and photo mat boards are very appropriate gifts for these photographers, since these will allow them to preserve their photos and protect those against damage.
Photo mount boards and picture mount boards are of two major types, those made of solid wood, and those made of a solid foam core. The wooden variety is known for its high durability, but provides less resistance to moisture. In order to protect the photos from moisture, the artist will have to wrap the board in clear plastic sheets, to ensure visibility as well as resistance against moisture. However, the sheets will have to be replaced periodically because of the normal wear and tear, which is somewhat of a hassle.
The foam core variety will provide superior resistance against moisture and will have good durability. However, it is quite flexible, and will bend easily, which may not harm the board, but will put folding marks on the photos. This may even ruin the photos. So, the artist will have to mount the foam board with a hard surface underneath it. Also, if you buy foam boards, buy those boards that are at least 3-4 inches thick. That will lend superior durability as well as alight resistance to bending.
Boards of all kinds can come in standard and adhesive variety, and the difference should be self-explanatory from the titles themselves. The adhesive boards have adhesive already applied to those, so that the artist can directly attach the images with the board. Also, this pre-applied adhesive is paper-friendly, and will not harm the photos in any way. Standard photo mounts and picture mounts do not have adhesive, and the artist will have to manually apply adhesive to photos before mounting those.
