Should we return to two party rule or stick with one party rule?
After franken is seated, and he will be, the democrats will have total control of 2 branches of government. There will be little if any checks and balances between the legislative and executive branch. This effectively means anything Pelosi/Obama want, they get. Probaly upwards of 99%. This also means the threat of filibuster, needless debate, obstruction, or oppostion is effectively rendered moot.
There will effectively be no opposition party with any real power.
Is this good or bad?
I am a liberal, and I still say that multiple parties are the best way to go, even now. Especially with economics, it is best when the two sides debate, and find middle ground. Look at Clinton with his budget. He wanted to spend a lot of money. Congress wanted to spend very little, as they were Republicans. What happened? They found middle ground and passed a budget that made sense. And a budget surplus followed.
Effective and open communication is key to good policy-making.
