How can I memorialize my grandmother at my wedding?
My grandmother and I were extremely close. She died 6 years ago. I’m getting married in a month and I want to do something to memorialize her. I don’t want to do anything publicly– like a candle or an empty chair… or anything like that. Simply because my other grandparents and my fiance’s grandparents are deceased too– I know this sounds bad but I wasn’t really close to them and neither was my fiance. If I did something publicly to memorialize her, it would be expected that I do so for the other people.
I had two ideas thus far… but I’m looking for something extremely special. I think I am going to place a rose on her grave on the day before the wedding.. then I’m going to place one white rose in my bouquet for her. But, I’m looking for something else to do….
I don’t have any jewelry of hers to wear– that would have been the easy solution…

first of all congratulations on your upcoming wedding, and i hope you will have a very happy marriage.
every family, every bride, will have a different way of honouring, or remembering a loved one, on their wedding day. when i was married i had one of my nana’s lace handkerchief tucked in my sleeve. and once our wedding was done we stopped and put my flowers on her grave.
when our daughter’s were married, they each had their photographer take a photo of them standing by a large portrait of their grandfather we have hanging in the den. he has been gone many years but they all have such wonderful memories of him that they wanted him in their wedding photos. the photos turned out very well and the girls love them.
the morning of each of their weddings they all went together and visited his grave. they took their coffees and muffins with them and had their brekkie with gramps.
when we had ordered flowers for the weddings we had ordered an extra nosegay of flowers for the bride to toss at the reception and after their photographers had finished taking photos of their bridal parties they stopped by ‘gramps place’ again and put their wedding bouquets on his grave.
i am sure you will find some way of honouring your grandmother, and you will feel her presence by your side and her love in your heart.
