Wedding Hanging Votive
Heavy Hors ‘ doeuvres for fall reception?
I am getting married Saturday October 8th 2011. The ceremony is going to be held outside at a pavilion over looking the lake. I am going to use Net Christmas lights in the trees with hanging glass votive candle holders, our colors are rust orange, chocolate brown, and champagne. The feel that I want for the wedding / reception is Elegant, yet simple. The wedding will begin at sunset (5:30 ish) I am looking for ideas for food for the reception, I do NOT want to make any of the food myself or have family do it, but I also do not want to pay an arm and a leg! Some people have suggested soup, salad, and bread, however I think I want to go more with “heavy hors d’oeuvres,” I need suggestions! If anyone has any ideas that I could do please let me know! Keep in mind the TOTAL budget for the wedding and reception is $6,000.
paper plates, paper cups, plastic forks and spoons. Be realistic. people going to a wedding reception look for a meal.
pumpkin pies, (fall)
potato salad (cheap to make)
deviled eggs ( cheap)
cantaloupe slices (cheap)
fruit punches (cheap)
bowls of chips (cheap)
platters of carrots and celery with ranch dip (cheap)
baked beans ( cheap)
french rolls, sliced ( cheap)
big ole jars of pickles sliced to make like 20 times more than what you originally bought ( cheap)
canned fruit mixed with whipped cream and gelatin mix ( cheap as hell )
bagels, split, cut into fourths with strawberry or plain cream cheese on top (cheap)
platters of black and green olives ( cheap )
be stingy with a big tube of ground beef, but make it stretch with a bunch of angel hair pasta with a bunch of cans of hunts spaghetti sauce, 99cents a tall can, slice black olives, add canned diced tomatoes, add oregano and salt/pepper/Parmesan cheese in that round green kraft can thingy ( yes, i know, im about to say it again!……………CHEAP)
Im not saying that you should do this, but this would be my menu if I had a wedding if I should be as lucky as you. These things are dirt cheap. Just do it baby. That way if there is drinks involved, there is plenty of food to soak it up for the lushes! lol
