Wedding shower decision?
Hello all,
In February my fiance and I are getting married in Barbados. My MOH is throwing us a Jack & Jill shower before we go as a kind of pre-wedding reception for all those that can’t make it. Its basically just a big party night. We had originally intended to do it outside, BBQ style but we can’t get a permit for a DJ or liquor for outside. So, shes given me the option to choose one of the following and I am asking for your help.
Option 1: Rent a banquet hall
* hire a separate caterer and get friends and relatives to help with the food that they can make.
* buy the liqour and hire a bartender
* have “beach” themed decorations that suit the wedding
* Benefits – cheaper, anything not used can be brought home
* Downfall – its not as pretty.
Option 2: Hold it at a professional banquet hall
* pretty and professional
* no worries, everything is taken care of
* Benefits – nothing to do
* Downfall – No theming available, will cost approx $1000 more.
Thoughts?
I think either option will work out good. I’d base the decision on your free time. Sounds like option 1 is going to require a lot more planning on your and your mil’s part. If you don’t mind the extra steps involved, then go with that one. It will save money and you can do a beach theme. If you don’t want the hassle, then option 2 definitely is your best choice. Because really for all your getting with option 2, an extra $1000 isn’t that much more.
