Tacky to have a pot luck wedding reception?
My fiance and I are on a tight budget and would like to ask guests to bring a dish they enjoy along with the recipe on an index card instead of a gift since we already live together and have already bought a house. We dont need another blender and besides, times are tough. I figured I could make a wedding recipe book with the cards. Is this considered tacky? Its a laid back outdoor wedding with about 50 guests and it’s in Aug.
im sorry i should have been more clear…. i dont plan on asking everyone to bring a dish, just close friends and family. if it was up to me we would go to vegas with a few friends and get married then have a big reception party when we get back but my man is old fashioned.
No not tacky, it’s not a formal ceremony so the reception doesn’t need to be formal either, and since you’re only asking close friends and family who know you best and will most likely understand where you’re coming from, it’s perfectly fine. I know a couple of people who have done this and nobody was offended. Love the recipe book idea BTW!
