Wedding Video Taping
who here had thier wedding video taped and was it worth it?
It’s not essential to have your wedding recorded on tape, but it can be a wonderful keepsake of your special day. I recently got married and I did have a videographer tape the ceremony and reception. It was partly for my husband and I, partly for my parents (because they wanted a copy), and partly because I had my wedding in a different country and not many of my family could make it, so this is one way in which they could experience the day without having actually been there.
I knew I wanted a professional because I have a background in filmmaking and I know what the average person can do with a camera – basically nothing! I wouldn’t recommend asking a friend or relative to do it unless they have some experience videotaping events, otherwise you will probably end up with something that looks a lot like the movie Cloverfield, or the Blair Witch Project!
You don’t have to go with someone expensive. There are a lot of wedding videographers out there with cheaper and more expensive packages. I looked around and found a guy who charges reasonably well, selected his basic package (which was the cheapest) and he did a great job! The cool thing too is that as well as supplying a DVD with full coverage, he also adds highlights of the ceremony and reception with music of your choice, so if you want to show friends or family the highlights without boring them to death, you can show them the edited highlights.
